It’s going to be a manic August :- a book launch, a writers’ week in Derbyshire and a writer-in-residence cruise.
Launch day for Blood Flows South is today.
The latest Fiona Mason Mystery is set in Provence. The peace of this sun-kissed area of southern France is suddenly shattered when terrorists attempt to kidnap the wife of a senior French politician. When their plan is thwarted, and they are forced to improvise and take a group of tourists hostage in a restaurant in Avignon, several of Fiona’s passengers are caught up among the hostages.
MI6’s Director of Counter-terrorism, Peter Montgomery-Jones is in Avignon on a secret mission. Can Fiona persuade him to help when one of her passengers is murdered?
I know many of you are on my pre-publication readers list and have already had a sneak preview. Several of you have sent me copies of your reviews. I am so grateful.
I’m always happy to add new people to my list which means that you will receive a copy of the latest book a week or so before the launch in exchange for an honest review on Amazon. If anyone is interested do get in touch.
Swanwick Writers’ Summer School
If you follow my Facebook author page, you’ll know I’m off to Swanwick in mid-August. I’m looking forward to it. Although I’ve been a regular at Winchester Writers’ Conferences and Writers’ Holidays in Caerleon and Fishguard, this will be my first time at Swanwick. I don’t do much long-distance driving these days (I leave that to my husband) and earlier this year when I drove to the Mystery Fest in Portsmouth, I managed to get hopelessly lost. My little Ka doesn’t have a satnav. I’m keeping my fingers crossed I manage to get there in reasonable time.
Writer in Residence
My timetable was thrown into chaos when a couple of weeks ago. I was contacted by a cruise company and asked if I’d like to be Writer in Residence running a series of nine writing workshops on a cruise leaving two days after I get back from Swanwick. I’d probably have said yes if the ship was docked in Tilbury for three weeks, but the ship goes from Athens to the Holy Land, Egypt, through the Red Sea to Mumbai. We’ve never been to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Petra or St Catherine’s Monastery and they have been on our bucket list for decades. Would you turn it down? After years of teaching creative writing and running workshops on cruise ships, the content of the workshops is no problem, but simply finding quality pictures for my presentations related to the places we are visiting is proving a lot more time-consuming than I’d thought.
It does mean that I have little time to worry about promoting Blood Flows South now it’s available on Amazon. In the past, you have all been very supportive in helping to promote the launch by sharing my Facebook announcement on your own pages and letting all your friends know. This time, I’m relying on your help more than ever as I am so pushed for time.
